The Biography:

Briaunna Young is currently a senior at Utah State University (USU), pursuing a Flute Performance degree, studying with Dr. Jeiran Hasan. 

Briaunna’s musical journey began at just four years old, when her mom, Katrina, started teaching her Suzuki flute. Briaunna has been privileged to work with many artists who have shaped her music education, and has performed in masterclasses for Mercedes Smith and Caitlyn Valovick Moore of the Utah Symphony, Marianne Gedigian, Jill Felber, Mark Sparks, and Sharon Sparrow. Some of her recent flute highlights include attending the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music in New Hampshire 2025, the Whole Flutes Convention 2024 in Las Vegas, the Summer Flute Institute at Metropolitan State University of Denver 2024, and performing with the National Flute Association Collegiate Flute Choir at the 2023 Convention in Phoenix, AZ. 

Briaunna has won many competitions, including the Utah Woodwind MTNA Collegiate competition in 2023, placing third nationally in the MTNA Junior Woodwind competition in 2019, is a 13-time Utah Flute Association Sonata Competition winner, and has received her 75 point Federation Gold Cup after years of participating in solo and chamber competitions. She is a Suzuki certified teacher, trained by Laurel Ann Maurer. Bri enjoys being involved in the USU music program, including participating in wind orchestra and flute choir, and was awarded the Geraldine Robins Memorial Award, a prestigious honor nominated by her peers. 

Briaunna is from Stansbury Park, UT and has followed a long-line of flutists in her family, and especially loves performing flute trios with her mom and sister. Outside of music, she enjoys cooking, roadtrips, traveling, and watching Twilight with Lottie, her teacup poodle.
